Opera 316 is one of the numerous casemates of the Circolare 7000 in the Vallo Alpino. Its armament consisted of one 47 mm gun and one heavy machine gun. Because it is located close to the main road the designers choose to camouflage it like an ordinary shed with the large doors closing the frontal embrasures. The casemate defended the main road in the Valle Maira and the passage of the AT ditch. It is interesting to note that between the casemate and the ditch there is a second anti tank obstacle in the form of three rows of concrete blocks on top of each other.
