In 1909 the Germans started to reinforce the defenses of Obergentringen. They had found out that the hill had many dead angles and its slopes were difficult to defend. Part of the reinforcements was the construction of six ditch casemates. They are an interesting link between the old and new designs. At one hand they were armed with machine-guns, while the old casemates had 53 mm guns. At the other hand the casemates are fairly large.
