One of the Bison casemates. Two of them form a battery of which four have been built throughout Switzerland. Originally more batteries were planned, but they were too expensive. For their time the Bison were very modern. The guns had a range of about 36 km and could fire a salvo of five rounds in 25 seconds. They have several protective systems, including reactive armour and a water spray to defect the laser beams necessary for laser-guided bombs. However with the current technique, like the GPS-guided bombs, the Bison batteries seems to be already outdated, less than a decade after the introduction.
