Schirmlafetten Batterie Nr.1
The German emperor played an important role in the design of the fortifications in his country. One of his decision of 1897 was to install guns in fairly light turrets. In fact these turrets reassembled naval mounting which explains their name Schirmlafette. The turrets were only installed in batteries less exposed to heavy fire. Battery nr. 1 is the only one equipped with all its turrets. For more information www.mutzig.net.
