During the construction of the casemate Héronfontaine (S.F. de Maubeuge) the old work from the 19th century there was demolished. Its unique observation turret was however conserved. It had be installed in the Alps, but this prooved to be to expensive. That is why the turret was installed in an observation post in the sector Faulquemont.
