Blockhaus d'Aschenbach: the sector Altkirch was quite heavy, because the French feared that the Germans would try to outpass the Maginot Line through Switzerland. The main line of resistance consisted of STG blockhouses. They were normally armed with two 8 mm heavy machine-guns, two 47 mm navy guns and one turret for a LMG. This blockhouse has been restored and it can be visited regularly.
