This pillbox defended the road between Villeneuve d'Ascq and Saingin-en-Mélantois, two villages SE of Lille. Originally this pillbox was armed with a 2-pounder anti-tank gun. However this was later changed to a heavy machine-gun. Therefore the embrasure was partly closed with bricks.
