The Secret Underground Tunnels are the nickname for a network of underground galleries under Dover Castle. Most of them date from the Napoleonic period when the castle was reinforced. However the tunnels are best known for the command post which coordinated the evacuation of 338.000 British and French troops from Dunkirk in 1940. Here you can see the central switchboard.
