The interior of the MG turret
While tank turrets would provided the necessary anti-tank defense the expected infantry attacks had to be repelled by the infantry weapons installed in other turrets. At Trasaghis a post-war turret was used for this purpose. Although this turret looks to be square it is in fact round. You can clearly see the four embrasures for a single machine-gun. Also visible at the photo is the ventilation system. The green boxes on both sides hold filters for the crew onto which they can attach their gas masker. The white spots on the photo are the remains of spider webs, so beware when you visit the turret.
