The three positions of the post-war IJssellinie were very important. It was expected that the Russians would do anything to destroy the three dams. This included aerial attacks. To counter these strikes every positions was equipped with quadruple Browning MGs and 40 mm Bofors guns. To coordinate the fire of these weapons every position had a LAACC or Light Anti Aircraft Control Centre. Here all the observations from forward observers and other sources were plotted. This way the gun crews could be alerted in time. The LAACC has been camouflaged like a shed. The only give-away is the small platform on the right which served as an open observation post and as emergency exit. |
