The caponier of the western infantry work of this Feste. It had the emblem of the German empress, but it was damaged during by the Americans in 1944. Like in the case of most of the buildings of the first generations of Festen around Metz the outer wall has been made of sand stone. However in this case the stone is pure decorative, because the actual wall is made of concrete.
