One of the MG casemates in the Feste
One of the MG casemates that was constructed in the first half of World War One to reinforce the Feste against a possible French attack on the Western front of Metz. It has been damaged by a heavy hit during the fightings in 1944 when Kronprinz was one of the last German positions to fall in American hands after a battle of three months. Note the unusual round embrasure.
