This is the first armored turret installed in a German fort, around 1873. It was designed by the famous artillery officer Schumann and was armed with two 15 cm guns. It has a diameter of 614 cm. Like all turrets of that time the wall is very thick, but the roof is rather thin. This is logical if you realize that mortars weren't effective in those days.
