The construction of this work started in 1912 and it was one of the last large infantry forts around Metz. It was equipped with an experimental armored casemate for three machine-guns and a search light. Although it was well armored with 30 cm of steel and provided a very small target just one casemate of this type was constructed. Apparently it wasn't a big success. Interestingly to note is that this idea was re-used in the Atlantikwall. |
