Gros ouvrage du Hochwald: block 12 is one of the rare 75 mm casemate in the NE part of the Maginot Line that has only two guns instead of three. The reason is simple. The short interval between Hochwald and the neighbouring work Four à Chaux was already covered by five 135 mm mortars, two 81 mm mortars and four 75 mm guns. They could fire more than 1.200 kg of shells per minute.
