The damaged cloche GFM of the Blockhaus du Col de Gunsthal Est. In June 1940 the Germans attacked the sector. As the French interval troops had retreated on the 15th the blockhouses were totally isolated. The Germans used 37 mm AT guns to take out the turret. One of the shells is still visable on the right of the embrasure. Although no shell penetrated the 20 cm thick turret the embrasures were destroyed, so the turret was useless. Without any frontal defence the crew was forced to surrender.
