The crew of the works and the casemates of the Maginot Line were housed in peace time in large barracks behind the line. Here is one of the buildings of the barracks of Veckring which housed the crew of the work Hackenberg and the nearby casemates. These barracks were very modern for their time and included even pre-fab building made of metal panels.
