The works in the sector Montmédy were abandonned and sabotaged on 15th June 1940. During and after the war they became the victims of metal dealers who removed all the metal. However at block 2 they weren´t able to take away the retractable turret. It was a so-called "Tourelle à deux armes mixtes", which was armed with two combinations of a 25 mm gun with two MGs each. Nowadays you can clearly see the armoured ring which had to protect the lower parts of the turret.
