One of the two generator buildings
Since the defense of Venice was hopelessly outdated when World War One started it was decided to build a new battery armed with a naval 38 cm turret. The construction started in 1915 and the battery was finished 17 months later. Here you can see one of the two generator buildings which provide the power and hydraulic pressure for the gun turret. The building doesn't look large, but you have to realize that the doors are 4 m. high.
