This fort was very strategic and protected the town of Nancy. It could also fire at the railways from Toul, an important French fortress, to Strasbourg and Metz, two important German fortresses. That is why the fort was equipped with a Mougin turret for two 155 mm guns. For the enthusiasts: this is the only example that was lowered after firing tests of 1908.
