Mille Fourches is one of the two forts (The third is a small blockhouse) built in the 19th century at Authion. It is very simple and in fact not more than a large barracks with two caponiers. Here you can see one of the two caponiers which are made in concrete. The fort played a considerable role in the heavy fightings around Authion. In fact the German troops that occupied it only surrender on 11th April 1945.
