While many countries built very expensive turning or retractable turrets did the Italians design a much cheaper alternative. They built a fixed turret for a 75 mm gun. This gave of course a limited traverse, but it was much easier to produce and weighted just 39 tons. However the front was still 32 cm thick and it provided a very small target.
