The front of block 8 of the work Janus
Block 8 of Janus is the only part of the Maginot Line that wasn't built in the thirties. It was in fact constructed at the end of the 19th century as part of an older fort. It armament consisted of four 95 mm gun on coastal carriage. During the thirties it was incorporated into the new Maginot work. However it retained its old guns. On the right you can just see the two turrets of block 4, the observation post of the work.
