Block 2 is exceptional in having only one 75 mm mortar model 31. This weapon was only installed in the Alps where its curved trajectory was highly appreciated. It was derived from the 75 mm gun, but there were some major differences. The tube had been shorted, but mostly importantly the ammunition used separate cartridge cases. This enabled the gunners to change the number of powder bags in the cases and thereby the velocity of the shell.
