The front of this casemate damaged by German trials. Besides normal shells they also used the so-called Röchling shells. This were very long shells that were fired at a high angle. They could penetrate several meters of reinforced concrete. However in this case they fired the shells horizontally in which case they were rather ineffective. The remains of the shells are still visible.
