Rivoli was originally an Austrian fort. However in 1866 it was taken over by the Italians. They turned it again its former occupants. To do that the fort was extensively modified which included the construction of a straight front with four gun casemates. You can clearly see the difference in colour between the Austrian and the Italian part.
