Many forts of the 19th century Austrian forts in Tirol were armed with 12 cm guns in armoured casemates. Mitterberg had three of such guns model 1880. The casemates were equipped with a small well protected embrasure. To reduce the size of the embrasures the guns were installed on special casemates mountings.
