The front of the fort Flitscher Klause. It had to defend the valley of the river Isonzo, famous for the several battles. The fort was built in a narrow gorge, which made that is was in a dead angle of the Italian artillery during WW I. Therefore it left the war unharmed. The main armament of the fort consisted of three 12 cm guns. However since the fort was completely outdated by 1915 the guns were removed to be installed in caverns.
