The embrasures for a 75 mm gun in the traditore battery
The embrasures for a 75 mm gun in the traditore battery. Originally the gun mountings were bolted onto the armoured plates. Unfortunately the bolts proved to be a weak point and the mounting was not a big success. A large part of the armoured plates were scrapped or re-used by the Germans, but some still survive. They were modified in the thirties to take a heavy machine-gun. During WW II the embrasures were bricked by the Germans who feared that paratroopers would occupy the forts.
