The turret for a 7,5 mm twin machine gun of block 5, one of the two infantry blocks of Castillon. The main armament consisted of two 7,5 mm twin MG, one of them in a flanking casemate mounting, the other in this turret. It had an unusual camouflage made of concrete. However in June 1940 the camouflage proved to restrict the elevation of the machine gun. When the work received in June 1940 a request of the advanced post of Pierre Pointue to cover it with machine gun fire this was impossible due to the camouflage. To solve the problem one of the smaller soldiers of the work climbed out through the casemate embrasure and smashed a part of the camouflage. When he was back he got the angry reaction of the "Officier Z" who was responsible for the gas protection. While opening the embrasure the block had lost its over pressure. However the machine gun turret was capable of fullfilling the request of Pierre Pointue. Despite the distance of over 2 km the machine gun succesfully cleared the rear of the post of Italian troops. Today you can still see some hits on the armoured door of Pierre Pointue.
