Most small works in the Alps were designed to house a infantry section. The small work at the Col du Caire Gros was no exception. Unfortunately the underground barracks were not finished when the troops in the sector mobilized in 1939. They were housed in metal huts. These huts were very primitive, but the soldiers did their best to improve the living conditions. Here they built also to close the hut on one side. It seems that this hut didn't resist the hand of time.
